The Thames Hare & Hounds Alumni Race has been an annual fixture since 1953, inviting runners to compete for their former school or university team. This is a fantastic opportunity to represent Bede's, connect with fellow runners across the generations, and participate in one of the most historic Alumni cross-country events in the UK.
Distance: A challenging 5-mile cross-country course.
Location: Wimbledon Common, the site where Thames first started the sport of competitive team cross-country running over 150 years ago.
We are aiming to field a strong and enthusiastic team of Old Bedians for the 2026 event (date TBC, typically a Saturday in September). We encourage runners of all abilities, whether you’re a seasoned marathon runner or looking for a fun challenge to participate and proudly wear our colours.
Following the race, the tradition continues! We will host refreshments at a local pub near Wimbledon Common to celebrate our efforts, share stories, and socialise with alumni and staff alike. This is often the best part of the day!
To help us gauge interest and begin the planning process, please let us know if you are interested in running in the 2026 Alumni Race.
If you wish to find out more about the Thames Hare & Hound, we would love to hear from you.
