Bede’s recently made their second appearance at the Thames Hare & Hounds Alumni Race on Wimbledon Common, with runners wearing the iconic forest green and red kit alongside former pupils from schools across the country.

The squad tackled the multi-terrain course of woodland trails and gravel paths with determination and camaraderie, pacing and supporting one another through the toughest stretches of the five mile cross-country route.

That team effort yielded a strong result, with Bede’s securing second place in the Ladies Old Johnian Cup. Scoring 145 points, the team missed out on the top spot to Putney High School by only a single point. Outstanding individual performances powered the overall standings, led by Laura Harling crossing the line in 36:46 to take 51st overall. She was followed closely by Charlotte Sutton in 37:55 (63rd overall) and Helen Soudain in 42:00 (93rd overall) to complete the squad's brilliant run.

Beyond the results, the event offered a great opportunity for former pupils to represent the school once again, reconnect, and build on the lasting network of the Bede’s community.

Having missed out on the trophy by the narrowest of margins, the team already has its sights set on returning next year to take first place. To do that, the squad needs to expand across all categories. Whether you are a seasoned cross-country runner or looking for a casual challenge alongside former classmates, all abilities are welcome.
